Cheyenne Bottoms is a 19,000-acre complex of marshes and wetlands located just outside Great Bend, Kansas — and it is one of the most critical waterfowl staging areas in the entire Western Hemisphere. Each fall and spring, millions of shorebirds, ducks, and geese funnel through this stretch of the Central Flyway, making it a bucket-list destination for serious waterfowl hunters.

The Kansas Department of Wildlife & Parks manages the Cheyenne Bottoms Wildlife Area, which offers public hunting access during designated seasons. Species include mallards, teal, pintail, wigeon, Canada geese, and more. The adjacent Cheyenne Bottoms Nature Conservancy tract adds thousands of additional acres of prime habitat.
